The system was launched in 2001 in Zagreb, Croatia, and we can now count 14 mobile communications providers among our partners. sms&park – new secure cashless payment system taking off in Germany

sunhill technologies launched sms&park in 2007 in Germany following a change in the law* that allowed payments to be made for parking by mobile phone. Since that time, almost 30 locations in Germany have introduced simple, convenient parking fee payment by mobile. sms&park is intuitive to use, regardless of the location or handset used. By comparison, systems that require registration have not achieved comparable levels of acceptance. Take-up levels of over 33 percent in Amberg, Germany, after only one year and over 80 percent in Zagreb, Croatia, after eight years have allowed the local authorities there to realise savings on the cost of parking space management.

No contract, no registration – convenient and secure parking fee payment

No long-winded registration process and no personal details required: simply tap in your vehicle's registration number and send an SMS to the short code number displayed on the sign – what could be simpler?

Ten minutes before the end of the parking period, a reminder is sent to your handset by SMS that also gives the option to extend the time. This aspect of the system doesn't just find favour with users: businesses in the town centre also benefit since customers no longer need to interrupt their shopping just because the parking meter is about to run out. Payments are collected automatically either as part of the mobile phone bill or from a pre-paid balance.
